QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"For me life is continuously
being hungry. The meaning of life is not simply to exist, to survive, but to move ahead,
to go up, to achieve, to conquer."

o2000-06-11 - On this day - Arnold & Madonnao
Thursday, June 11, 1998
Hollywood was buzzing with rumours that Madonna was in secret talks with Arnold about
starring in a big- budget action movie. "Nothing too violent, though," the
singer reportedly told a friend. Madonna was a hit in Evita but apart from that,
big-screen success has eluded her. At that time she spent a day with the Schwarzenegger
family discussing plans. |

Arnold charged two photographers in connection with a traffic confrontation with a car
accident, when Arnold and Maria were driving their son Patrick to school: "Giles
Harrison and Andrew O'Brien trapped the Mercedes in an attempt to initiate an im-promptu
photo shoot. O'Brien faced additional battery charges for allegedly shoving two people
from Patrick's school who attemped to intervene on behalf of the Schwarzeneggers. If
convicted they both face a year in jail and a $1.000 fine for charge."

Andrew O'Brien has apologized a few months later |

o2000-06-09 - On this day - Lance the Terminatoro
Monday, June 9, 1997
The RTL (German television) moderator Frauke Ludowig had an interview with Ahnuld.
Arnold also showed her the city of Santa Monica, Schatzi on Main, World Gym... She later
spent a lot of time with Arnold and his friends - the whole RTL team travelled to his
B&R premieres around the world (Austria, London...). The final result was a nice RTL
EXCLUSIV presenting the Oak in one-hour Schwarzenegger Special.

Lance Henriksen told today's TV Guide Online that he originally tried out for the
title role in the movie that launched James Cameron's career. Until Arnold Schwarzenegger
came along, Henriksen had his eye on playing the killing machine from the future in The
Terminator. 'If I'd done it,' he said, 'it would have been much more Machiavellian,
nonphysical, but brilliant hydraulics rather than a giant tank.' Henriksen instead landed
the role of a deputy police investigator. |

TSD INFO & CD Script Reviewo
Corona Coming Attractions had some neat info
about Arnold's next film!
Visit Corona's The Sixth Day
page (SPOILER WARNING!) |
Script Asylum posted a completely
anti-Arnold script review of Collateral Damage! I don't remember that this page published
anything positive in the past when Arnold's name got mentioned! So I don't think we should
take it seriously. In my opinion I think this really isn't a review but just another anti
Arnold soul speaking. God help him or he'll be back!

Arnold signed on to the I am Legend project. Matheson's novel has been
adapted twice before: The Last Man on Earth & The Omega Man. Ridley
decided to pursue this project since RKO 281 was having difficulties getting a green
light. |
Monday, June 8, 1998
Arnold and Whitney Houston were guests at the premiere outing of Twentieth TV’s
“The Magic Hour” - a latenight talkshow with Los Angeles Lakers icon Earvin (Magic)
Johnson. Earvin played it smart and booked the world's best-known action-movie star. The
Oak captivated the audience and kept the interview light - joking that he didn't like
being hosted by the ex-basketball player because it was the first time he didn't
physically dwarf the interviewer. Arnold also paid Magic a super compliment by pointing
out the similarities between their careers: superior athletes in their respective fields,
businessmen and enterpreneurs.

Magic Johnson wisely choose Arnold as first-ever guest for his new talk show and
the Nielson ratings showed their approval
Later during a Q&A period with the audience, Arnold was asked to identify the heaviest
thing he ever lifted. "Magic's wallet," he shot back without hesitation. Magic
got his own friendly jabs in. When Arnold asked why he had been chosen as the first guest,
Magic said "My wife and kids love you...and Harrison Ford couldn't make it
tonight." Arnold's charm worked and the inaugural show brought in ratings of 3.0,
good enough to put it in front of David Letterman's Late Show. All Magic had to do then
was to reproduce the results without the Oak for the rest of the season! Although having
Arnold on is always a high point in any talk show, so far this has been Magic's ONLY high
point. The show really is (or was) pretty awful, plus you could tell the audience
quiestions were planted. Magic seems to have fun with it, but if it lasted longer than a
few weeks would be because Magic is shelling out the money himself. Anyway, Arnold was
still as cool as ever of course. He was in great spirits as he chatted with Magic about
working out with him and his early days in TV (they showed a clip from Arnold's
performance on "The Lucile Ball Show"). Then (as written before) the audience
asked questions of Arnold such as "What's the heaviest thing you've lifted?"
Answer: "Magic's wallet!" A fun but rather unrevealing interview. |
