The script was completed on schedule, but shockingly to the studio, Arnold still disagreed with the draft. It was rumored that Schwarzenegger's second script disapproval angered Ridley Scott, the "I AM LEGEND" director, because he felt the original draft never needed to be changed in the first place and it was already suitable for filming. Studio executives, calmed the director and promised Arnold that the changes he was seeking would be completed by November if he was still interested in filming the feature. Arnold agreed to wait, and the studio ordered the rewrites. The original screen writer Protosevich was considered unable to make the necessary changes Schwarzenegger wanted. He was replaced with John Logan.
