A Word from Camerono
Director James Cameron has terminated his
discussions about directing Terminator 3, the online magazine Inside said Tuesday. The
magazine quoted Cameron as saying:
"I don't control the rights, and to build value in someone else's franchise really
doesn't make sense. ... I'll build value in my own franchise, thank you very much."
Responding to Arnold Schwarzenegger's comment that his "big wish" was to work
with Cameron again on Terminator 3, Cameron indicated that he may have at least part of
his wish. He said that he is currently developing True Lies 2, which could reunite him
with Schwarzenegger. |

Cameron Won't Be Back for T3o
HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - While Arnold
Schwarzenegger made good on his cyborg's promise to be back for Terminator 3,
it's been confirmed that the franchise's creator, director James Cameron, won't follow
suit.

I won't be back!
Longtime Cameron producing partner Rae Sanchini said the helmer's involvement hasn't been
a real possibility for more than a year.
The sequel rights to the sci-fi series are held by Mario Kassar and Andy Vajna, the former
chiefs of the defunct Carolcostudio which produced the first two films. The duo reteamed
under their C-2 Pictures banner.
``I don't think (Cameron) has talked to Mario or Andy about this in over a year,''
Sanchini said.
Kassar and Vajna recently attached Schwarzenegger to star in the franchise's third
installment, which is slated for a late spring 2001 start. No domestic distribution is in
place, following the collapse of talks between C2 and Fox.
Sanchini acknowledged that speculation rose when Schwarzenegger joined the project, but
that Cameron's participation was never a real possibility.

Arnold and Jim
"Yes, (Schwarzenegger and Cameron) are fabulous friends," Sanchini said,
"and yes, they love working together, but no, he won't be directing the movie."
When Schwarzenegger committed to star in T3 last month, he said, "My big wish is that
Jim Cameron and I will work together again." For now, that wish will be restricted to
True Lies 2, which Cameron is developing at Fox.
Kassar and Vajna did not immediately respond to calls for comment.

Arnold, remember Alien 3?

HOLLYWOOD REPORTER
UPDATE:
Arnold to take on female Terminator
Some changes are in store for "Terminator 3." Not only will Arnold
Schwarzenegger's aging android character do battle with a state-of-the-art,
next-generation Terminator robot, the kicker is that the android Arnold will fight to the
finish is female. In addition, the filmmakers (Mario Kassar and Andy Vajna) are looking at
a short list of new directors for the next installment of the franchise as James Cameron
has passed. Although he was given the script from writer Tedi Sarafian, it was unlikely
that Cameron would helm because of his estranged relationship with the filmmakers (HR
6/22). Schwarzenegger, who still must approve a director, remains firmly attached to the
project. The short list of possible directors includes "Gladiator" helmer Ridley
Scott, "Fight Club" helmer David Fincher and "Independence Day" helmer
Roland Emmerich as well as Christian Duguay, who directed the "Joan of Arc" TV
miniseries. |

Arnold visited mother Aurelia in Graz and made a special shopping. He bought an olive
oil (can't eat salat without this oil) at the Graz market hall, because they don't have
any in Hollywood. The lady who sold the oil to Arnold, was extra informed about her buyer,
but didn't realize "Who is that?" Arnold also bought some steirer alcohol and
steirer farmers bread, then flew direct from Thalerhof airport to Kennedys Hyannisport,
where Maria, Katherine and Christina were already waiting. |
