Monday, August 3, 1998 Aurelia Schwarzenegger, Arnold's mother, died at 76, the Austrian Press Agency reported. Mrs. Schwarzenegger was visiting the grave of her husband in nearby Weiz on Sunday when she collapsed after a heart attack, the agency said. She was brought by helicopter to a hospital in Graz (LHK Graz), where she died, after 30 minutes. Her death came just four days after her birthday. "With the loss of my mother, my world has fallen apart," Schwarzenegger was quoted by the local newspaper, Kleine Zeitung, as saying. Mrs. Schwarzenegger had lived quietly in Weiz, where her late husband was police chief. She was active in local wildlife preservation programs. Arnold described his mother as "the secret of my success and my first love". Sven Ole Thorsen, Arnold's close friend, was the man who said the sad news to Schatzi cigar night members that Monday. Friday, August 2, 1996 Over 15.000 athletes, officials and guests at the summer Olympiad in Atlanta watched Arnold's action thriller Eraser on a four-story screen at the Olympic Village, along with the Oak. This was the history's biggest one cinema show ever! Eraser was also released in Denmark that day.

Sunday, August 2, 1998 Aurelia visited the grave of her husband in nearby Weiz when she collapsed after a heart attack. She was brought by helicopter to a hospital in Graz, where she died. Arnold get the sad news about his mom's death from Alfred Gerstl, the man who became a surrogate father to Schwarzenegger. Later Gerstl told The National Enquirer that Aurelia visited her husband and son's graves every day despite a history of heart problems. Arnold had begged her to move to Los Angeles near him, Gerstl said. But Aurelia loved Austria and told Arnold: "I can't leave home. I will die here."

Monday, August 1, 1966 At 19, Arnold went to Germany as a manager-trainer at Putziger's gym in Munich. That day Rolf Putziger drove him around in his Mercedes and also got him a room in Putziger's house. Arnold's friend Franco Columbu joined him later that year.

Thursday, August 1, 1996 Filming of Batman and Robin began. Arnold wasn't involved until late October and Bruce Willis was waiting in the wings should Arnold be unavailable to play the role of Mr. Freeze. Slyvester Stallone was very disappointed that he was not offered the high-profile villain role and that Arnold was.

Werb and Colleary have plans to write the script for Ziskin as soon as they've completed a production rewrite of Warner Bros./Bel-Air Entertainment's "Collateral Damage," the Arnold Schwarzenegger starrer that director Andrew Davis is expected to start shooting in September.
