I've contacted a person
who is close to production of Arnold's upcoming film The 6th Day. We've talked
about the misleading trailer, action sequences, MPAA rating and some other tidbits... So
let's see:
"As far as the trailer is concerned, I didn't get into
specifics, but I didn't really like how it was put together. It does a good job at setting
everything up. But like most trailers, I thought it gave away too much. It didn't focus on
Arnold enough. The whole movie is this loss of identity thing that's happening to Arnold,
but the trailer made it seem like a big action movie. The trailer just seemed to be
Arnie...running from things. And that's not what the film is. I don't remember even seeing
Michael Rapaport, who plays Arnold's best friend and partner, and I don't think we saw the
main villain. It focused on the female henchman, who I wouldn't even consider to be the
best member of the group of henchmen, anyway.

There really isn't that much action in this movie. Not like the typical action movie.
There are, I'd say three major action sequences. The car chase, the Arnold fight, and the
climax. There are a few explosions here and there, but it really isn't action sequence
after action sequence, as the trailer makes it seem. I think it's just trying to bring in
that audience. But most of it is Arnie trying to track down the truth and find out what's
happened to him (and the bad guys trying to prevent him, of course). The trailer left out
some great things that could have sold the movie. The famed Arnie on Arnie fight, for one.
Arnold's fight is what will be the movie's lasting image. It was written well and it goes
with the theme of the film.

But I'm really glad they put in the shot where Arnold sees himself celebrating with him
family and his face is reflected in the glass. You can thank the storyboarder for that
great shot. I'm surprised they didn't even put in the Foosh Gun, which is something that
they invented for the movie. You see them in the trailer, but they don't fire them. They
were named "Foosh Gun" because "Foosh" is the sound the gun makes. The
gun in the movie was made so that it just blows small circular holes into victims, maybe
four inches in diameter. The holes actually go all the way through them so you can see
through to the scenery behind. They don't leave any blood, though. They did this for the
PG-13 rating.

I believe that what you saw is the final trailer. Most big movies have the teaser and the
trailer, so it would be odd if this was it. Especially since post production started
fairly recently. And you're definitely right about the Whispercrafts. They do look
ridiculous. My guess is that they still have four months for post production. Maybe after
they've heard all of these complaints, they'll try to make them look better.

Here's some insider info I found out yesterday. I don't know if it's been released yet,
but the guy composing the music for the film is Trevor Rabin. He does all of Bruckheimer's
movies."
All I can add is this is good news! Trevor is the talented
South African composer who wrote the score for Gone in Sixty Seconds, Deep Blue Sea, Enemy
of the State, Armageddon, Con Air, Twister, Bad Boys and Speed! The insider also said that
John Sayles got writing credit for a while, but might not be getting it anymore!
