Bad news for T6D SE DVD

t2.jpg (369 bytes)

According to Image Entertainment, Columbia Tristar will give The 6th Day a minimal treatment - the List Price has been reduced from $27.95 to $24.95, which is the only good thing. However, this title will no longer be a Special Edition; all of the previously announced Special Features have been deleted except - Trailer; Production Info; Filmography; Isolated music track with composer Trevor Rabin commentary; "Re-Pet" infomercial and TV spots! And on top of that, this DVD now has a new street date: 3/27/2001! I can't believe this is happening.

Arnold's 54-year-old stuntman, Benny Dobbins, died abruptly of a heart attack. I guess that Commando, Predator and The Running Man had nothing to do with the tragedy.

Arnie as California Governor
- there's a chance -

rob2.jpg (632 bytes)
t0.jpg (398 bytes)

t2.jpg (369 bytes)

The Washington Post Online reported, that California Governor Gray Davis (one of the nation's most prominent Democratic leaders) is caught in a political riptide jeopardizing his career. In polls, Davis's overall standing remains solid, but about 60 percent of California voters say they disapprove of how he is handling the energy crisis.

Ab006080.jpg (11275 bytes)

What's interesting for Arnie fans is, that Republican leaders are threatening Davis with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Some of them want the movie star, a longtime Southern California resident, to run for governor next year. Davis's political aides are warning potential challengers to be ready for a fight. They even sound ready for the unlikely prospect of a Schwarzenegger candidacy:

"Republicans always say how much they want to get gratuitous violence out of popular culture. He's killed more people in his movies than were killed in World War II."

Variety reported that Arnold was in serious talks to revive the epic action film “Crusade” with producer-financier Arnon Milchan.

"If a deal can be struck, Milchan likely would make the film under his overall arrangement at Fox. It’s unclear who Schwarzenegger and Milchan would choose to direct, though Paul Verhoeven is interested."

Oliver Stone (Platoon, JFK...) and his company, Illusion Productions, was in continuing negotiations to lure Arnold to the Roger Spottiswoode actioner S.W.A.T. (based on the '70s TV program of the same name) for TriStar.

Stone was long considered to be, at various times, either directing or producing Planet of the Apes, as well, although it was revealed at that time to Cinescape Online that James Cameron would write and oversee that monkey business.
