Filmnet reported that Germany's VCL Film+Medien company was set to take a 25% stake in next two "Terminator" movies being planned by Producers Mario Kassar and Andy Vajna. Japan's Toho Towa company has already made a similar arrangement, which includes a percentage of the profits and the option in their respective home countries. Kassar hoped to select a Director within the next 45 days and planned to shot the sequels back-to-back. A lot changed in a year, I guess.

Arnold attended 72nd Academy Awards -- as a presenter for best Visual Effects, giving his usually humorous speech: "Good evening, I'm here today to present the Award for outstanding visual effects. This is really exciting for me because while you may not know how much inspiration, imagination, and plain hard work goes into creating this magic, I know - because I've been a visual effect." The Matrix won the award.
